Dr. Stuart Brown spent his life researching the value of play across the lifespan. He found that there are 8 different ways we all engage in play - yes, even adults! According to his Play Personalities, I am:
The Storyteller: I love writing poetry and performing at local open mics. I also write and perform puppet shows. I enjoy engaging my imagination through storytelling and pretend play!
The Explorer: I am always seeking out and creating wonder through exploring new places in nature. You can usually find me climbing a tree at a local park and setting up my hammock! I also explore by pushing myself out of my comfort zone and trying new hobbies (tap dance, aerial silks, and rock climbing so far!) I engage in emotional exploration through meditation and spirituality.
Hi! I’m Becca!
I believe in the inherent value and worth of every person and seek to honor each client’s unique experience and identity. I specialize in working with children and adults with trauma using EMDR and in utilizing Synergetic Play Therapy to support children with a wide range of behavioral and emotional needs. I am passionate about providing an inclusive space that welcomes and caters to individuals with developmental disabilities, neurodivergence, and sensory needs. Every child and adult deserves to have their voice heard, valued, uplifted, and respected.
When I work with children, I listen and guide them with respect and empathy that gives space for empowered healing to occur. I provide a safe, warm, and empathetic space where children can heal, learn, play, and grow. I offer a child-centered approach and focus on emotional attunement to the family’s and child’s needs. I support children who have experienced trauma, live with anxiety, OCD, or phobias, face challenges with self-esteem, bullying, or self-harm, are working through life changes like adoption, divorce, or foster care, or are exploring their gender identity or sexual orientation. My therapeutic approach is integrative and body-centered, blending somatic practices, mindfulness, and movement — often woven into EMDR — to support holistic healing. I also incorporate Synergetic Play Therapy, sand tray, and expressive arts to help children process experiences through both verbal and creative, nonverbal expression. This approach supports emotional regulation, resilience, and deeper self-awareness.
I place great value on providing a space and approach that is supportive, understanding, and accepting of all cultures, identities, and individual differences. I embrace all LGBTQ+ identities and provide affirmative care to LGBTQ+ youth. All unique identities of children and families are honored and celebrated here. Families and caregivers are central in the counseling space and healing process for children and individuals with disabilities. I offer parent coaching and family sessions alongside individual therapy with a family-centered approach that allows learning and healing to expand from the therapy space into the family home.
Choosing to reach out for support is a brave first step in this healing journey we are beginning together. Whatever brings you, your child, or your family to this safe space, I welcome you. I am here to walk with you on this path towards healing, growth, and discovery. It is a great honor to support you.
