Lunch & Learn - From Theory to Action: Exploring How Change Happens in Play Therapy

$100.00

Play therapists often know that play is therapeutic - but can we clearly articulate how and why change happens for the children we see? This lunch & learn takes a practical, theory-grounded look at the change process in play therapy. We'll briefly explore how humanistic play therapy theory each conceptualizes change, then connect those frameworks to the therapeutic powers of play that actually drive it in session. We'll close with something every play therapist needs but rarely gets training on: how to explain this process clearly and confidently to parents and caregivers, so they understand why play, and not just talking, is the vehicle for their child's growth.

Learning Objectives

  • Describe how humanistic play therapy theories explain the mechanism of change in play

  • Explain how the 20 therapeutic powers of play function as a vehicle for change within play therapy treatment

  • Apply theory-informed language to explain the change process in play therapy to a parent or caregiver in clear, jargon-free terms
